About Me
My name is Tung Pham, a lecturer working at Hanoi Medical University and a Master of Public Health graduate from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
I graduated from medical school in 2015 and began to practice medicine in Hanoi, where the scenes of overcrowded oncology hospitals haunted me every day. Most of the patients came from undeserved background but suffer from the diseases of the privileged. Most them were in the terminal stage and had to pour their lifelong savings down the drain because of an inadequate health insurance system that did not cover their treatment expenses.
Facing these tragedies every day made me take a hard look back to my original intention when I decided to enter medical school - improving human lives. Therefore, I decided to leave my clinical career to pursue public health, where I believe that I could create a long-lasting impact to transform the healthcare system in Vietnam.
